Manitoba Hydro says a downed power line left 9,200 customers without electricity late Saturday morning.
It took several hours to fully restore power due to the snow, said Hydro.
A spokesperson for Manitoba Hydro told 680 CJOB they don’t know how the line was downed. The power went off at about 10:35 a.m. and restored at about 5:30 p.m.
Colleen Osborne-Prokop lives nearby and provided Global News with video of the downed line (above.) She said crews were on the scene although power had not been fully restored by 3 p.m.
While the extreme cold warning for Winnipeg had ended, the high for Winnipeg was -21 C, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
