Adults (18-64 years): $10.00 entry

Youth (6-17 years) or Senior (65+): $6.00 entry

Child (5 and under): Free

Groups of 10 people or more: $6.00 per person

Sundays = Family Days; 12 and under free; everyone can make a marbled journal to take home


August 6 workshop | Fingerweaving (12 and over)Workshop DescriptionIn this workshop, participants will learn fingerweaving techniques and create their own small sash.

Workshop FacilitatorÉlise Paetkau

Faciliator BiographyÉlise is a high school teacher with a passion for creating. She works with a variety of textile arts including sewing, embroidery, spinning, fiber dyeing, loom and finger weaving. She has lately started learning the art of card weaving. Élise has worked as a historical interpreter for 10 years and loves to pass on her knowledge of historical and modern textiles to other creators.

August 13 workshop | Bannock in Michif (6 years old and over)Workshop DescriptionIn this workshop, participants will prepare traditional bannock while learning associated words in Michif.

Workshop FacilitatorsLorraine Coutu and Andrea Rose

Facilitor’s Biography (Lorraine Coutu-Lavallée)Lorraine Coutu-Lavallée is a Michif French elder who was born and raised in St. Laurent, Manitoba. In 2011, Lorraine and four other women from St. Laurent wrote the Michif-French language dictionary in order to preserve their language and culture, somethinge that had never been done before. They self-published the dictionary in 2016 and it can be found on the shelves at McNally Robinson on Grant Avenue in Winnipeg. Before COVID, they taught a language session at the St. Laurent school and plan to continue in the fall. They also work with the local Headstart program to teach Michif-French to pre-schoolers through games and activities.

August 20 workshop | Métis Beadwork: Traditional Scissor Case (12 years old and over)Workshop DescriptionIn this workshop, participants will create their own traditional scissor case using Métis beading techniques.

Workshop FacilitatorsNancy Gouliquer and Margaret Firlotte

Facilitator’s Biography (Margaret Firlotte)Margaret is a michif artist located on Treaty 1 territory. She has been doign beadwork for over three years and has recently started exploring sewing, although beading is her preferred medium. She began beading as a creative outlet and soon realized that it was a wonderful way to reconnect with her Métis culture. Everything Margaret has learned in the realm of Métis artistry comes from her mother, Nancy Gouliquer.
